On November 28, the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holodomor, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, memorial services were held in churches and monasteries throughout the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, “for the victims of the terrible events of one of the most tragic pages in the history of Ukraine.”

Every year on the fourth Saturday of November, on the basis of the presidential decrees of 1998 and 2007, Ukraine honors the victims of three famines—the Holodomor of 1932 to 1933, and the mass famines of 1921 to 1923 and 1946 to 1947, reports the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

The victims were commemorated in a variety of services and ceremonies.
