According to two different Ukrainian news outlets, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine is the most influential religious figure in Ukraine, and among the most influential Ukrainians overall.

As primate of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude heads the largest religious confession in the country and enjoys the loyalty and adoration of millions of Orthodox faithful both in Ukraine and throughout the world.

According to the results of the reader poll on Focus, Met. Onuphry is the second most influential Ukrainian, coming in behind only former President Petro Poroshenko.

Epiphany Dumenko, the head of the schismatic “Orthodox Church of Ukraine,” came in at number 11, and Svyatoslav Shevchuk, the head of the Uniate Greek Catholic church, came in at number 34.

Readers of the site voted for those whom they would like to see wield influence tomorrow, in a year, and in 5 years.

All the results were checked through an anti-spam service, and votes that came through sites that pay to perform actions online were also expunged.

Earlier in the month, Met. Onuphry was also voted the most influential religious figure in Ukraine according to a panel of experts and the editorial board of Vesti.

This year he was voted number 16 overall in the list of the 100 most influential people and phenomena in Ukraine, moving up one slot from last year.

Epiphany Dumenko came in at number 56, dropping 12 slots from last year, and “Patriarch” Philaret Denisenko came in at number 86, dropping 40 slots from last year. Svyatoslav Shevchuk came in at number 61, with no change from last year.
