There is a strong possibility of another Orthodox community forming in the Philippines, on Luzon Island.

The Department of Charity and Social Service of the Russian Orthodox Diocese of the Philippines and Vietnam has been actively working among the poorest families in the city of Bacoor, near Manila, the Diocese reports.

Local volunteers are also taught the basics of organize food for the children and taking care of their hygiene.

The Russian Orthodox Church is already well-known in Bacoor and several people are interested in converting, thus there is hope of forming a new Orthodox community there in the near future.

Construction on the future Church of St. Thomas also recently began in the village of Kinabalan on the island of Sarangani.

@Anon - I don't think we should encourage any nation's aspirations to be like the secular West in any way whatsoever. It is incredibly sad that these people don't want to be themselves. The secular West is pushing every kind of evil on the world, and it makes me sad that Filipinos would want to be corrupt like us. Christ and Orthodoxy need to colonize the hearts and minds of these people, and the tendrils of the secular West must be cut off wherever they are found.

Philippinos tend to really idolize the West, Western Civilization, and White people as a collective whole. Opinion polling conducted a few years ago showed, for instance, they're more pro-American than Americans. Mormonism is actually one of the fastest growing religions in the Philippines, probably for those reasons. Clean cut, dressed up, polite, courteous missionaries who represent a country they aspire to be more like-- at least materialistically. I'm not sure if these statistics reflect their views towards Russia and various Eastern Orthodox countries, but I'm sure there's a lot of crossover. EO missionaries could learn a thing or two from the Mormons' way of doing business. Don't believe the self-hating Western Bloc media that tries to frame everything through the lens of "evil White colonizers vs People Of Color", or "the oppressive, racist, patriarchal Christian religion vs progressive feminist indigenous paganism" as though the latter (the vague, generic "POC" or the watered-down notions of "paganism") constitute some kind of unified group, united through the "commonality" of their being people "of color" or non-Christian. Not directly related to the topic at hand, but useful to point out whenever possible to counter-act the lies.
