I just wanted to be a monk in the Holy Land, preferably staying in the same place. It was recently announced on the Order’s Facebook page that they would be collecting emergency funds to help assist the Orthodox Christian community of Beirut, Lebanon, who suffered tremendously from the horrifying explosion which killed hundreds and wounded upwards of 4000 people. The goals of the Order of St. George are to help the Orthodox poor, the sick, the needy, the maimed, the mentally ill, the imprisoned, the socially disadvantaged and the persecuted. The Order also strives to assist in the protection and maintenance of Orthodox holy places including monasteries, seminaries, cathedrals, churches and shrines.
