Another nun of the Ascension of the Lord Convent on the Mt. of Olives in Jerusalem has reposed in the Lord.

Having suffered from complications due to the coronavirus, Deputy Abbess Rafaila (Lel) departed to the Lord on Thursday, March 11, reports the site of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, which adds that she was one of the most beloved and respected sisters of the convent.

Mother Rafaila is the fourth nun of the convent to repose in the past three weeks. OrthoChristian earlier reported on the repose of Schemanun Christina, Nun Rufina, and former abbess Mother Moisseia.

After finishing 6th grade in the local Arab school, the future Mother Rafaila went to become a pupil at the convent, to then remain forever as a nun. She labored on the Mt. of Olives for 67 years, serving as Deputy Abbess since 1996, with the right to wear the pectoral cross.

Mother Rafaila bore many heavy obediences during her decades of monastic labor and was known for her deep knowledge of the Divine services and her constant prayer.

May her memory be eternal!
