Metropolitan Dionysius of Synades of the Patriarchate of Constantinople reposed in the Lord yesterday, April 14, at the age of 75, reports Romfea.
He is the second hierarch of Constantinople to repose within a week. Metropolitan Constantine of Nicaea reposed in the Lord on April 8, at the age of 92.
Met. Constantine served in the episcopate for 49 years. Met. Dionysius served as a hierarch for 25 years.
The funeral for Met. Constantine was served by Patriarch Bartholomew on Monday, April 12. Met. Dionysius’ funeral will be served on April 19.

Met. Dionysius was born on September 4, 1946. He graduated from the Theological School of Halki in 1971, was ordained to the diaconate that same year, and to the priesthood in 1989.
He was consecrated as the titular bishop of Synades on September 15, 1996. He was elevated to the rank of Metropolitan on July 7, 2015.
Met. Constantine was born on July 23, 1929. He graduated from the Theological School of Halki in 1950, was ordained to the diaconate that same year, and to the priesthood in 1956. In November 1966, he was appointed professor at Halki.
On January 16, 1972, he was ordained Bishop of Apollonia, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Constantinople. On March 26, 1974, he was elected Metropolitan of the Princes Islands in Constantinople, and on March 15, 1977, Metropolitan of Derkoi. On August 29, 2011, he was elected Metropolitan of Nicaea.
