A fraternal building for new novices of the Holy Dormition-Kiev Caves Lavra was blessed yesterday by the abbot of the monastery, His Eminence Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl.
Despite the active persecution that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has faced in recent years at the hands of the government and the nationalist schismatics of the “Orthodox Church of Ukraine,” the Orthodox Church continues to grow, including its holy monasteries.
“More than 30 years after the revival of the Kiev Caves Lavra, the number of brothers and novices who want to join the monastic life of the monastery, its glorious history, and its educational activities is constantly increasing,” states the monastery’s report.
“For those who want to work for the glory of God, there isn’t always enough space to live and labor in the monastery. Therefore, with great joy, the brothers, led by the abbot, are consecrating the restored fraternal buildings for new novices of the House of the Most Holy Theotokos,” the monastery notes.
Met. Pavel wished all the novices a good struggle, saying: “I wish everyone who will live here to bear their obedience with piety and care in this heavenly monastery. Remember with what great efforts the monastery was built by our holy fathers. By their prayers, may the Lord grant us all His habitations in the Kingdom of Heaven!”
