New York City, September 8, 2021
St. John the Forerunner Orthodox Pro-Life Society will be holding moleben for an end to abortion in front of an abortuary in New York City this Saturday, September 11.
With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Michael of New York and New Jersey of the Orthodox Church in America, the moleben will be served by V. Rev. Vlad Zablotsky, rector of the Holy Trinity Church in Yonkers, New York.
Those who would like to join the pro-life prayer service should contact the St. John Society via telephone at 917-428-3560. The moleben will be live-streamed on the Society’s Facebook and Instagram pages at 1:30 PM.
The Society plans to continue working closely with Fr. Vlad and the Holy Trinity parish. In October, an icon of St. John the Baptist being painted for the Society will be blessed, and next spring there will be a pro-life conference. Those who are willing to share an experience of pro-life work, to offer successful examples of educational, charitable, and other types of activities can contact the St. John the Forerunner Orthodox Pro-Life Society to join the conference.
The conference will tentatively include international participation with representatives of a Polish Pro-Life movement and an Orthodox priest from St. Petersburg, Russia, joining online. More details will be available soon.

The St. John Pro-Life Society holds prayer services in the streets monthly. The previous one was held in Jackson Heights (Queens) on August 7 and was served by Abp. Michael. Fr. William Bennett from St. Nicholas of Myra Carpatho-Russian Church in Manhattan joined the service, and afterwards he recorded a short video in which he called believers to be active and to join such prayers in the street.
This was Fr. William’s second moleben with the Society. The first was in June, when the moleben was attacked by pro-abortionists.
For the priest it was the second time when he participates in pro-life events, and his first experience was the witness in front of Brooklyn Abortion Clinic in June of this year and that Orthodox moleben was attacked by pro-abortionists. This experience didn’t change Fr. William’s desire to participate, but only strengthened his willingness to protect lives.
In his sermon at a moleben on August 7, Abp. Michael pointed out that pro-abortion people, including some philosophers, believe that human life might be terminated if a person doesn’t have one or another ability. In this regard, Vladyka Michael reminded that he was in coma for three months many years ago, and during this time he was temporarily deprived of self-awareness, but he still was a human being, a person. And it’s the same with unborn children.
Watch recordings of the moleben on Instagram and Facebook.
Abp. Michael strongly supports pro-life ministry. With his blessing, the St. John Pro-Life Society uses the diocesan address as its mailing address. The Society was recently registered as a non-profit, and now its work can be supported by check, in addition to other means.
