At its session on Monday, the Holy Synod of the Metropolia of Chișinău and All Moldova of the Moscow Patriarchate officially established three new monasteries.

The hierarchs gathered in Chișinău under the chairmanship of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir to discuss various issues, mostly involving monasteries and the monastic life in Moldova.

According to the minutes published on the Church’s official site, the hierarchs first decided to establish the Convent of St. John Chrysostom in the village of Șuri in the Drochia District, with Mother Vasa appointed abbess with the right to wear the golden pectoral cross.

The Synod also resolved to establish the Skete of Sts. Joachim and Anna in the village of Miciurin, Drochia District, as a dependency of the newly-established Monastery of St. John Chrysostom, with Mother Ioachima appointed abbess with the right to wear the golden pectoral cross.

The hierarchs also decided to establish the Skete of St. Nicholas in village of Holercani in the Criuleni District, as a dependency of the Convent of St. Theodore the Tyro in Chișinău, with Archimandrite Nicolae (Roșca) appointed as cleric-administrator.

The Synod also appointed abbots and abbesses for several other monasteries and decided to organize a synaxis of the abbots and abbesses of the monasteries and sketes in Romania during Paschaltide next year.
