Orthodox pro-life society continues protests at NYC abortuaries

New York City, October 12, 2021

On Friday, October 8, the St. John the Forerunner Orthodox Pro-Life Society held a prayer service for an end to abortion in Manhattan. Archpriest Mark Hodges from Ohio led the pro-life moleben with the blessing of his Archbishop Paul of Chicago and the Midwest of the Orthodox Church in America and with the blessing of Archbishop Michael of New York and New Jersey.

The police were called on the Pro-Life Society, but the police supported the group’s right to protest.

The Society will be holding another event in New York City on October 16, the 105th anniversary of the very first abortuary opened by Margaret Sanger in Brooklyn in 1916. It was illegal and the “clinic” was soon closed. Sanger went on to found Planned Parenthood.

The moleben on October 16 will be served by Fr. Vladimir Zablotsky, rector of the Holy Trinity Church in Yonkers, New York.
