Volunteers from the Romanian Orthodox National Cathedral in Bucharest have been conducting the ongoing “Get Involved! Together We Can Do More!” charitable campaign since March of last year.

So far, 330 individual campaigns have been held for the benefit of the elderly, the poor, and families with several children.

Most recently, 30 families from three localities in Prahova County, 100 miles north of Bucharest, received food packages from the volunteers on Saturday, reports the Basilica News Agency.

“We rejoice every time we can help them. The joy we see on their faces is imprinted in our souls every time we visit them,” said Dănuţ Prună, the coordinator of the National Cathedral volunteers.

Local priests also testify to the joy of those who receive assistance.

And in western Romania, the Metropolis of Banat donated nearly 4 tons of food to the psychiatric hospital in Gătaia, Timiş County.

The food was personally offered by His Eminence Metropolitan Ioann.
