Metropolitan Alipy of Ukrainian Church reposes in the Lord

His Eminence Metropolitan Alipy of Dzhankoy and Razdolny (Crimea) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reposed in the Lord at the age of 50 yesterday, following a serious illness, reports Patriarchia.ru.

He served the Church as an ordained cleric for 28 years, including 11 years as a hierarch.

Met. Alipy was born on October 27, 1971, in a village in the Kiev Province. In 1991, he entered the Odessa Theological Seminary, after having served in the Soviet army.

He was tonsured a monk on September 11, 1993. He was ordained a hierodeacon on September 26, and a hieromonk on October 3.

In 2006, he graduated from the Kiev Theological Academy. He was elevated to the rank of Igumen later that year, and to archimandrite in 2009.

He taught moral theology at Taurida Theological Seminary since 2007.

Until his episcopal consecration, he served the Church of St. Nina in the Crimean village of Gaspra. He was consecrated Bishop of Dzhankoy and Razdolny on February 14, 2010 at the Kiev Caves Lavra. On August 17, 2016, he was elevated to the rank of Archbishop, and on August 17, 2019, to the rank of Metropolitan.
