A wonderful Church treasure that was confiscated by the godless Soviets a century ago was returned to the Church this weekend.

Following the Liturgy at the Holy Dormition Cathedral in the city of Vladimir, a Gospel from the early 17th century was donated to the cathedral by the benefactor Alexander Yusifov and his family, reports the Vladimir Diocese.

The sacred book had been confiscated from the cathedral together with liturgical utensils about 100 years ago by the Soviet government as part of a program of seizure of Church valuables. The diocesan report does not mention how the Gospel came to be in the possession of the Yusifov family.

The Gospel was received with great gratitude by His Eminence Metropolitan Tikhon of Vladimir and Suzdal.

The Church valuables, including gold and silver items, were seized under a supposed program to "redistribute the wealth to the people".... In reality, I would not be surprised if much of the money from this ended up in the private bank accounts of the bolshevik punks.... What do you think happened to the valuables seized from the Royal Family and other Nobility?... Use the brain that almighty God gave to you...
