The number of church-attending believers in the Republic of Crimea has grown significantly since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

High COVID rates have prompted people to turn to God more often, Fr. Valentin Melnik of the Church of the Holy Myrrh-bearers in Kerch commented to news.allcrimea.net.

“There have been more parishioners lately. There has also been significantly more who want to be baptized. They even come from other regions,” Fr. Valentin said.

The Church has become a kind of “spiritual clinic” for these people, the priest said, since sick people are always in need of God.
