Thousands of Orthodox faithful in Montenegro took to the streets throughout 2020 in defense of their holy sites against the pretensions of the anti-Orthodox government.

Processions were held several times a week throughout the country, many led by the beloved Metropolitan Amfilohije, who reposed late in the year.

Now the hierarchs and participants in the holy processions are immortalized in bronze, thanks to the work of sculptor Dragan Radenović .

The artist’s figured relief depicts the ever-memorable Met. Amfilohije, who led the Montenegro Metropolis of the Serbian Orthodox Church for 30 years, and His Eminence Metropolitan Joanikije, who now heads the Metropolis following the repose of Met. Amfilohije, reports gorazdevac.com.

Also depicted are the Abbess Angelina, and the girl Una, the Goddaughter of Met. Amfilohije, symbolizing all the children who came out to defend Orthodox holy sites from the persecution of the state.

All of the figures are full-size, with crosses behind them. Met. Amfilohije is crowned with a wreath of victory.

The monument is about 20 feet tall. It has not yet been decided where it will be installed.

The historic processions in Montenegro have also been honored in fresco at Holy Trinity Church in the village of Zelenika in Herceg Novi.
