In Kosovo and Metohija, extremists continue to attack Serbian Orthodox churches and holy sites. There have already been 6 such cases just since the beginning of this year.

“It is deeply worrying that since the beginning of the year, three times more ethnically motivated incidents against Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija have been recorded compared to the same period last year,” reports the Diocese of Raška and Prizren.

There was a series of church robberies in Zubin Potok in January.

On Sunday, the Church of the Unmercenary Healers in the village of Drenovce was broken into and money was stolen. Before that, all the glass of the windows and doors of the Church of St. Elijah in the village of Nedkodim was broken.

The diocese calls on the police to investigate these latest cases and to bring the perpetrators to justice, and appeals to international representatives to influence Kosovo’s institutions, as many of the attacks are the result of heightened anti-Serbian rhetoric in political circles that encourage violence and ethnic intolerance.
