With the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, all Kiev churches are ready to offer shelter from shelling and bombing in their basements, reports the Information-Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Also with the primate’s blessing, all dioceses and monasteries of the Ukrainian Church will organize comprehensive assistance to refugees and victims.

For example, in the Vinnitsa Diocese, a humanitarian aid center has been opened at the Holy Trinity Convent in Brailov. The monastery is also ready to accept anyone who may lose their homes.

Refugees are also being housed in monasteries and centers provided by the Church in various dioceses in Russia.

The Ukrainian primate appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday to put a stop to what he called a “fratricidal war.” He also called upon the faithful to offer up penitential prayers for peace in Ukraine.

Greg - the ROCOR is very, very close to Met. Onuphry and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, especially Bishop Theodosios of Seattle. Why would you leave a comment like that? You have no clue what you are talking about.

Would be helpful to list humanitarian links that allow people to contribute to helping Ukrainian civilians. Obviously the ROC and ROCOR cannot be trusted, but a list of entities that aren't nationalistic and are truly charitable would very helpful right now.
