A rash of burglaries struck a number of parishes of the Patriarchate of Constantinople’s Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia over the weekend.

Nine churches in the state of Victoria, as well as the Archdiocese’s bookstore were all hit on Sunday, April 17, reports dogma.gr.

All the thefts occurred when the churches were closed, so none of the clergy or laity of the parishes were injured. Church authorities immediately informed police about the incidents and a search is underway for the perpetrators.

There has also been a rash of attack on Russian Orthodox churches throughout the world since the fratricidal war began in Ukraine in late February. Earlier this month, OrthoChristian reported on attacks in France and Brazil.
