The aim of the projects is to upgrade and modernize the buildings of Mount Athos, in order to highlight and promote its historical value, while, at the same time solving functional and aesthetic problems. They are expected to be completed by December 23.

The projects include work at the monasteries, sketes, and cells of Vatopedi, Simenopetra, Philotheou, Xeropotamou, the Great Lavra, Pantocrator, Zographou, St. Panteleimon, Iveron, St. Paul, Grigoriou, and New Esphigmenou Monasteries.

Some of the structures to be worked on date as far back as the 10th century.
