The Ternopil Diocese of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church made a joyous announcement today.

Unfortunately, since the beginning of the fratricidal war in late February, a number of canonical priests have left the Church and gone into schism. But now, at least one has come back.

According to the diocesan announcement, Archpriest Theodore Martinyuk of the Holy Cross Church in the village of Dzvinyacha “repented for going into schism and was again accepted into the bosom of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.”

Fr. Theodore’s time in schism was brief. It was only on May 23 that His Eminence Metropolitan Sergei of Ternopil had banned him from serving for his recent departure into schism.

It's so wonderful to hear about priests repenting of their schism with Constantinople and returning to the bosom of the Orthodox Church.
