The Russian Orthodox Church’s St. Alexei Hospital in Moscow will open a new medical office in Melitopol, Ukraine, this weekend.

Volunteer doctors will provide free medical care and medicine to those affected by the war starting on Sunday at the Church of St. George the Great Martyr in Melitopol in the southern Zaporozhye Province, reports the Synodal Charity Department.

The Battle of Melitopol lasted from February 25 to March 1, with Russian forces taking over the city.

Funds from the Charity Department are being used to stock up on medicine to be distributed at the new office. Melitopol will be the fourth city where medical care is organized by the Moscow hospital. Volunteers provided assistance to residents of Gorlovka and Mariupol in April and May, and they continue to help in hospitals in Novoazovsk and Mariupol.

Courses on caring for the wounded will also be offered in Melitopol.
