The traditional procession on Petrovdan, the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul, gathered thousands of Orthodox faithful in the Montenegrin town of Bijelo Polje this year.

Together with the clergy and faithful, they processed from the ancient Church of St. Peter to the Church of St. Nicholas and back, reports the Metropolis of Montenegro.

The faithful from Vasojevići and Andrijevica who walked 30 miles to join the procession were greeted with applause when they arrived.

In his homily, Bp. Metodije spoke about the river of prayer that flows from the ancient Church of Sts. Peter and Paul in Bijelo Polje.

“They flow prayerfully and freely, until this day and hour when we are strengthened and freed by the grace of God, but with that true and real, spiritual freedom as a spiritual category, with which Christ freed us,” His Grace preached.

Bp. Teodosije then spoke about how the Apostles conquered the world for Christ by their love and self-sacrifice.

“We all gather together to confirm that love, Christ’s love, and show that we are the heirs of that love of Christ, and that love that the Holy Apostles preached,” the Kosovo hierarch said.
