The Serbian Orthodox Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in Recife, Brazil, was broken into and robbed on Sunday.

Among the items stolen were an altar cross and the holy relics of two beloved saints.

Rector Archpriest Alex Peña-Alfaro informed his parishioners about the incident:

A fundraiser has been set up for the church, with a goal of $10,000. The statement there notes that the stolen relics belong to St. Peter of Cetinje and St. Stephen the Great.

Donations can also be sent via PayPal.

OrthoChristian previously reported that liturgical items were stolen from a Polish Orthodox church in Brazil in October.

Lord have mercy on their soul, for they don’t know what they do. They aren’t robbing the Church, they’re robbing their own soul and handing it to the enemy of man. What’s even more sad is that that they stole on Holy Sunday. Bless them father and forgive them.
