Photo: risu.ua Peter “Giacomo” Sanfilippo, a defrocked former priest and editor of the pro-LGBT site Orthodoxy in Dialogue (OiD), has defied a California judge’s order to remove a number of malicious and defamatory articles from his site.
In May, Judge John Holcomb of the United States District Court for the Central District of California, ordered Sanfilippo to pay Fr. Josiah Trenham $300,000 “for publishing false, malicious, and defamatory statements and accusations concerning the priest and his ministry, and for harassing the Trenhams.”
Fr. Josiah of St. Andrew Orthodox Church (Antiochian Archdiocese) in Riverside, California, known for his outspoken defense of the Orthodox Church’s views on marriage and abortion, brought the case against Sanfilippo in July 2021, based on more than a dozen articles on the OiD site.
The judge also ordered Sanfilippo to delete and cease to share a number of articles. In particular, he was given 14 days from the date of the court order, May 23, to remove the most malicious article, which includes doctored video accusing Fr. Josiah of physically and sexually abusing his own children.
As of publication of this article on August 2, 2022, the article remains on the OiD site.
Sanfilippo was also given 21 days to remove another 18 articles, all of which remain on the OiD site as of August 2, 2022.
