The Metropolitan of Dryinoupolis, Pogoniani and Konitsa of the Church of Greece suffered a mild stroke late last month and is now recovering at home.

In response to rumors about his health, the Metropolis issued a statement about Met. Andreas on Saturday:

On Sunday, July 31, while preparing to go to the parish in Areti, Pogoni, for the annual memorial service for its former priest Fr. Spyridonos Sioura, he began to feel a little unwell.

He was taken to the Univeristy Hospital of Ioannina, where he suffered a mild ischemic stroke. After a 3-day stay in the hospital, he returned to the Diocese of Konitsa, where he continues his treatment.

Therefore, he begs all his beloved clergy and the people of God not to believe wild guesses, but to pray that the Lord, Who allowed this small trial, might soon grant its happy outcome. He thanks you all and blesses you.

May Met. Andreas enjoy a full and speedy recovery!
