Thanks to a newly translated and published book, the Slovakian Orthodox faithful can now read about a holy elder of modern times.

The book My Elder Ephraim was originally written in Greek by Fr. Stephanos Anagnostopoulos, one of the closest disciples of Elder Ephraim of Philotheou, the Athonite missionary to America.

“The book is extremely rare, because the author, based on his more than 60 years of experience as a spiritual father, reveals the hidden corners of the Elder’s spiritual life and gives authentic testimonies about the high spiritual states of Elder Ephraim, one of the great personalities on Holy Mt. Athos in the 20th and 21st centuries,” writes pravoslavnekrestanstvo.sk.

“The book is translated from Greek and is intended for those who are interested in a deeper spiritual life. In addition to instructions for thinking about oneself and one’s life, it is a source of optimism and serves as a balm for the soul.”

Meanwhile, St. Anthony’s Monastery in Florence, Arizona, where Elder Ephraim spent the last decades of his life, is undertaking an ambitious project to publish a 5-volume set on his life, miracles, and teachings.

As OrthoChristian previously reported, the monastery set up an IndieGoGo fundraiser to help cover the costs of producing the series, which in the meantime has exceeded its fundraising goal.
