Despite the threat of wildfire over the weekend, the Monastery of St. John of San Francisco in Manton, California, survived unscathed.

The Orthodox Church in America’s Diocese of the West initially published a message, which quickly spread through social media, asking for prayers for the Abbot Fr. Innocent and the brotherhood, as the Forward Fire was reportedly within a few hundred yards of the monastery.

The fathers had to evacuate, taking the Holy Gifts, relics, and icons with them.

On Saturday, Fr. Innocent informed the Diocese that its road, Ponderosa Way, had reopened and the monastery was unscathed.
