Bomb threat at Pskov cathedral, faithful evacuated

The Holy Trinity Cathedral in Pskov had to be evacuated today due a to bomb threat.

The faithful had gathered in the church to venerate a portion of the relics of St. Sergius Radonezh that are being carried to churches and monasteries throughout Russia and Belarus.

Following a brief homily in which he encouraged the faithful to never give in to fear, no matter what temptations are trying circumstances we are facing, His Eminence Metropolitan Tikhon of Pskov and Porkhov announced that everyone had to calmly leave the cathedral, as a bomb threat had been called in.

A video of the homily and announcement was published by the Pskov Diocese.

The relics of St. Sergius were safely moved to another church, reports the Union of Orthodox Journalists.
