Three years after the repose of its former hierarch His Eminence Archbishop Nikon of Boston, the Orthodox Church in America’s Albanian Archdiocese has elected a new bishop.
Clergy and lay representatives of the Archdiocese met for its annual and special assemblies at St. Nicholas Albanian Orthodox Church in Queens, New York, September 22 to 24, where they elected Igumen Nikodhim (Preston) as their next bishop, the Archdiocese reports.
Fr. Nikodhim was ordained to the priesthood by Abp. Nikon in 2010, and in 2017, he was tonsured as a monastic, named in honor of the holy Martyr Nikodhim of Vithkuq and Berat. He currently serves as Chancellor of the Albanian Archdiocese and rector of the St. Nicholas Church in Queens.
The Archdiocese, which consists of 11 parishes, mainly scattered throughout New England, now awaits the confirmation of his election by the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church in America.
