The Russian Orthodox Church is working to restore the many churches that have been damaged during the war in Donbass.
According to the report of the Holy Synod (Journal no. 94), which met in Moscow yesterday, it has received applications to restore 152 churches so far.
Most of the given churches are located on the territory of the Severodonetsk, Donetsk, and Gorlovka Dioceses.
In late June, representatives of the Financial and Economic Department of the Moscow Patriarchate visited the churches on the ground, and work began in 12 churches deemed most in need of restoration. The work was fully completed in six churches by the end of September.
