The head of the Patriarchate of Antioch made an emergency visit to the Archbishop of Cyprus today after learning of the latter’s critical health situation.

It was reported last week that Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus is in critical condition. He was already visited by His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem. His Eminence Metropolitan Nikiforos of Kykkos also recently visited the Archbishop to offer and receive mutual forgiveness. The Metropolitan has strongly disagreed with the Archbishop’s decision to recognize the “Orthodox Church of Ukraine,” but the hierarchs embraced each other and wept.

Though Abp. Chrysostomos’ condition remains critical, he was able to receive and speak with Pat. John X of Antioch yesterday, reports Romfea.

In his statements to the media after the visit, Pat. John emphasized that he is very close to Abp. Chrysostomos, who has supported the Antiochian Patriarchate during its difficult times in Syria and Lebanon.

“We have this love. Relations with the Church of Cyprus are historic, from the first years of Christianity. That’s why I came when I learned that he’s going through this difficult time with his health… He’s a loving man who always showed his love. His faith is strong and God is with him,” the Patriarch said.

While in Nicosia, Pat. John celebrated Vespers for the feast of St. Demetrios the Myrrh-Gusher in the Church of St. Demetrios together with Bishop Christophoros of Karpasia.

Mr Joseph. There is NO forgiveness without repentanse. And I do not remember hearing the bishop of Lefkosia ever repent of his dirty deeds.
