On November 19, 1972, Fr. Anastasios (Yannoulatos) was consecrated as the Bishop of Androusa of the Orthodox Church of Greece. He later served as a hierarch in Africa, and eventually became the first primate of the restored Albanian Orthodox Church.

On Saturday morning, the Albanian Church celebrated the 50th anniversary of this consecration of its beloved primate, His Beatitude Metropolitan Anastasios, with the Divine Liturgy at the Resurrection of Christ Cathedral in Tirana, the Church reports.
During the service, the speech delivered 50 years ago by the late Archbishop of Athens Ieronymos I and the response of the then-newly consecrated Bp. Athanasios were read out.
After the Liturgy, more than 700 young students from Albanian Orthodox Church schools watched the documentary, “Pascha in Kenya,” about the period of the Archbishop’s ministry there. The children also performed songs, poems, and folk dances.
The next day, following the Sunday Divine Liturgy, two short films dedicated to Abp. Anastasios’ activity as primate of the Albanian Church were shown.
In June, the Archbishop also celebrated 30 years as the primate of the Albanian Church.
