The Orthodox Church in America’s Diocese of Sitka and Alaska has a new mission statement, emphasizing its sacred goal of converting all peoples in Alaska to Christ in His holy Orthodox Church, including those who have fallen away, and those who have never been Orthodox.

The new mission statement reads:

His Grace Bishop Alexis (Trader), formerly a monk of Mt. Athos, was enthroned as the Orthodox Church in America’s Bishop of Sitka and Alaska on Sunday, March 27. He had been administering the diocese as its Locum Tenens since the repose of his predecessor Archbishop David in November 2020.

The diocese launched a new YouTube channel in July, beginning with a series of explanations of the Nicene Creed by Bp. Alexis.

Also in July, a charitable fund for the support of struggling Alaskan clergy was established at the OCA’s 20th All-American Council. Visit the diocesan site to contribute to its rectory construction fund, clergy stipend fund, missionary fund, or land management fund.
