Kiev, March 29, 2023
On March 10, the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture informed the brotherhood of the Kiev Caves Lavra that it has until today to abandon its monastic home.
The monks have said several times that they have no intention of leaving, and the monastery is challenging the state’s order in court.
In a show of prayerful support for their beloved Church and monastery, thousands of Ukrainian Orthodox Christians have been filling the Lavra every Sunday, to the point where Liturgies must be served outdoors to accommodate all the faithful, who come to pray in any weather.
And today, when the monks are to be evicted, hundreds of faithful have come to pray from early morning, the UOC reports.
The true believers are again standing outside in the snow, while prayers are heard over a loud speaker:
In the Holy Ascension Church, an Akathist to the Mother of God is being served.
