Mother of Serbian Patriarch buried in Bright Week

On Holy Saturday, April 18, Radojka Perić, the mother of the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, reposed in the Lord at the age of 80.

The funeral Liturgy was served by a number of hierarchs in the Church of the Ascension in Čurug on Bright Tuesday, April 18, in the prayerful presence of His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije, reports the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The funeral rite was led by His Eminence Archbishop Stephan of Ohrid and Macedonia.

“The sufferings of mothers for their children, physical and spiritual, are comparable to those of Christ, and it’s difficult to understand Christ’s love for people if you don’t know a mother’s love. Eternal memory and the Kingdom of Heaven to you, dear mother,” His Holiness said.

Radojka was then buried in the cemetery in Čurug.
