The Orthodox faithful of Cambodia had cause to rejoice over the weekend, when one of the few parishes in the country was festively consecrated.
The Rite of Great Consecration of the Church of the Great Martyr George the Victorious in the capital city of Phnom Penh was celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Sergei of Singapore and Southeast Asia on Sunday, May 1, the Exarchate of Southeast Asia reports.
His Eminence was concelebrated by parish rector Hieromonk Paisiy (Ipate) and clergy from the Thai and Singapore Dioceses.

After the Rite of Consecration, Met. Sergei celebrated the first Divine Liturgy on the newly consecrated altar. At the Small Entrance, Fr. Paisiy, who also serves as dean of the Cambodian District, was awarded the right to wear a jeweled cross for his zealous service for the Church.

Fr. Paisiy explained at that time that the church is undergoing much needed renovations. To date, thanks to a generous donor, 70% of the renovations have been completed. See below for information on how to help the community with other social, charitable and missionary projects.
At the end of the service on Sunday, Met. Sergei addressed the parishioners with an archpastoral address and congratulated them with the feast of Pascha and the Sunday of the Myrrh-bearing Women.
