His Beatitude Metropolitan Rastislav of Prešov, the primate of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, was among those honored by the University of Prešov last month.

On Monday, April 24, on the occasion of Teacher’s Day, a ceremonial meeting was held at which the university rector Dr. Peter Kónya awarded bronze, silver, and gold medals to university employees and others “for significant pedagogical and research activity, as well as contributing to the development of the university,” the Diocese of Prešov reports.

On behalf of the Orthodox Theological Faculty, Met. Rastislav received the gold medal for cooperation and his significant contribution to the development of the university from the hands of Dr. Kónya. Bronze and silver medals were also awarded to others on behalf of the Orthodox Theological Faculty.

His Beatitude is a member of the Academic Council of the Orthodox department, which is under his canonical supervision.
