For several years now, the Orthodox Africa charitable organization has been supporting Orthodox missions in Kenya and Uganda.

One of the most important aspects of its work is helping missions, including schools and orphanages, become self-sufficient. The St. John the Wonderworker Orthodox Christian Mission Center was opened in Kampala, Uganda, a year ago and has been busy working to create a self-sufficient group of local leaders.

Another step towards the mission’s own self-sufficiency was taken recently, with the purchase of a local drugstore.

Orthodox Africa reports:

By acquiring the drug store, Orthodox Africa is taking a proactive approach to addressing the challenges that often hinder the progress of missionary work. The initiative not only provides an essential service to the local community but also generates a sustainable source of income to support the mission's operations. Furthermore, this forward-thinking endeavor ensures that we will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of the Orthodox people in the surrounding communities, regardless of external economic factors.

As Orthodox Africa blazes this trail of self-sufficiency, it remains dedicated to its primary objective—providing essential support to Orthodox missions in Uganda and Kenya. The purchase of the drug store marks a significant milestone in our journey, empowering the mission to thrive for years to come, regardless of the unpredictable international economic landscape. Through their unwavering dedication and innovative approaches, Orthodox Africa continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of the Ugandan and Kenyan people, fostering hope and transforming communities one step at a time.
