On Wednesday, May 31, the Belarusian Orthodox Church celebrated the 25th anniversary of the canonization of the Righteous St. John of Korma (†1919), a great man of prayer and fasting.

On that day, His Eminence Metropolitan Benjamin of Minsk celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the St. John of Korma Convent in Korma together with other local and visiting hierarchs and clergy, the Belarusian Church reports.

In particular, it was recently established that he reposed on April 14/27, 1919. St. John’s liturgical diaries were also found among the newly discovered materials.

At the end of the service, prayers were offered before the relics of St. John, and then Met. Benjamin led the faithful in a procession.

St. John was canonized by the Belarusian Church on May 31, 1998. On November 30, 2017, the Bishops’ Council of the Moscow Patriarchate approved him for Churchwide veneration.

His relics were found to be incorrupt in 1997, and since then, many miraculous healings have been attributed to him.
