Sick children and cancer patients venerate St. Paisios’ cross and prayer book in Belarus

Minsk, May 2, 2023

Throughout the month of May, the Orthodox faithful of Belarus will have the opportunity to venerate some personal belongings of one of the greatest saints of the 20th century.

On Sunday, April 30, a cross and prayer book owned by St. Paisios the Athonite arrived in Minsk, where the relics were joyously greeted by thousands of believers at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, reports the Belarusian Orthodox Church.

The items will then be carried to churches in every diocese of the Belarusian Church, and especially to a children’s hospice and numerous oncology clinics throughout the country, for the consolation of the sick.

Yesterday, the blessings from St. Paisios were taken to the Church of St. Paisios in Minsk, and on May 6-7, they will be available for veneration by the faithful of the Church of St. Paisios in the city of Slutsk (consecrated in 2019).

The relics will make 23 stops altogether.
