The Ukrainian Orthodox Church has begun taking up donations to help the victims of the terrible flooding in Kherson.

The Information-Education Department reports:

In connection with the flooding of many settlements caused by the breaching of the dam of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, the primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine blessed to announce a collection of voluntary donations in the dioceses of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which will be directed to help displaced people and victims of man-made disasters.

The funds collected by the Kiev Metropolis will be directed to the diocesan offices of the affected regions for targeted assistance to all those who need it.

The wonderworking Kasperskaya Icon of the Mother of God was taken to the banks of the Dnieper River in Kherson on Tuesday to bless those affected by the flooding, and prayers are continually being offered before the icon.

The power station’s Nova Kakhovka Dam collapsed early on Tuesday, flooding dozens of settlements, including residential buildings, infrastructure facilities, churches, and more.
