Sögel, Germany, June 20, 2023
Three hierarchs of the Romanian Orthodox Church came together on Sunday to consecrate a new church in the northwestern German city of Sögel.
The consecration service was celebrated by the hierarchs of the Metropolitanate of Central and Northern Europe: His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim of Central and Northern Europe, His Grace Bishop Macarie of Northern Europe, and His Grace Bishop Sofian, vicar of the Archdiocese of Germany, Austria, and Luxembourg, reports the Basilica News Agency.
The new church is dedicated to the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, the Holy Apostle James, and the Holy Hierarch Nektarios. The cornerstone was layed and consecrated on June 9, 2019.
Bp. Macarie preached during the Divine Liturgy about the example of the Holy Apostles:
The Apostles didn’t ask the Savior Jesus Christ because they felt that He was the Messiah, He was the Savior, and immediately followed Him. Under this adverb of time the whole evangelical pericope from the Divine Liturgy unfolds.
Let us also follow the Savior Jesus Christ without asking Him for further explanations, but only believing in him, because He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
There are nearly 200 Romanian Orthodox parishes in Germany and a convent dedicated to the Brâncoveanu Martyrs.
