With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae of the Americas (Romanian Patriarchate) and thanks to the missionary labors of Fr. Daniel Ene, a parish community is quickly developing in the capital city of Ecuador.

The priest, from New England, recently made his fifth missionary visit to the community, and celebrated the Divine Liturgy for the Sunday of St. Mary of Egypt on April 2. The service drew Romanians, Orthodox of other nationalities, and local Ecuadorian converts, reports the Romanian Metropolia of the Americas.

The community is the first canonical Orthodox parish in the city of Quito.

On this occasion, the Quito community was also visited by Archimandrite Raphael (Chepernich) from the Serbian Orthodox parish in Guayaquil, whose church became the first Orthodox church to be consecrated in Ecuador in November.

After the service, the Romanian women offered fasting refreshments in memory of their loved ones who have reposed in the Lord.

Services in Quito are held in a central and very easily accessible area of the city, at Capilla Catolica de la Resurrection, RG26 + X87, Quito Ecuador 170517.
