Orthodox photo contest about Greece accepting submissions through July 8

This year’s edition of the international Colours of Orthodoxy photo contest centers on the Orthodox wonders of Greece.

The annual photo contest is held with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Poland and His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Greece to promote Orthodoxy around the world.

Submissions will be accepted through July 8 and then judged by an international panel of experts. The best photos, and those receiving awards will be published in an exhibition and album that will be printed by the Publishing Department of the Polish Orthodox Church.

There are four categories:

  • Places: architecture, landscape, monasteries, churches, cemeteries

  • Reportage: journalism, church events, pilgrimages, feasts, street photos

  • People: ordained and lay, portrait

  • Details: icons, frescoes and mosaics, crosses, tombs

Prizes range from 100 to 1,000 euros.

Thousands of Greek Orthodox faithful came out to the Holy Church of the Evangelistria in Tinos last night and this morning to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the discovery of the wonderworking Panagia of Tinos Icon.
