Romanian chapel consecrated for St. John (Maximovitch) of San Francisco

On July 4, the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church formally added St. John (Maximovitch) the Wonderworker of Shanghai and San Francisco to its liturgical calendar.

And in fact, just two days prior, on the feast of St. John, a Romanian hierarch consecrated a chapel in honor of the Holy Hierarch, who was canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in 1994.

The chapel of the Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Palanca, Romania, was consecrated to both the Dormition of the Mother of God and St. John by His Grace Bishop Ambrose of Giurgui, reports the Basilica News Agency.

During the service, the faithful had the opportunity to venerate a fragment of the relics of St. John the Russia, brough from the nearby Monastery of St. John the Russian.

The same day, a church was consecrated in honor of St. John in Logroño, Spain.
