Kampala, Uganda, August 17, 2023
By Mayembar Brian Andonios

On the feast of the Dormition of our Most Holy Lady the Theotokos and Ever Virgin Mary, August 15, thirty young and adult catechumens were triple-immersed in the baptismal font to put on Christ at the Church of the Unmercenary Physicians Sts. Cosmas & Damian in the Holy Metropolis of Kampala of the Alexandrian Patriarchate.

The holy Sacrament was celebrated by the parish priest, Fr. George Lule, with all the newly illumined coming from the new Orthodox community of Busikiri-Semuto, Wakiso District, which was blessed and officially launched this year by His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Kampala on July 1, the feast of the Holy Unmercenaries Cosmas and Damian.

The Sts. Cosmas and Damian Church is located in the village of Kiti village, Kasangati, Wakiso District—12 miles from the Metropolis headquarters in Kampala. It was founded in 1998 by the late Fr. Constantine Ssemakula with his family and friends, by the blessings of the late Metropolitan Jonah (Lwanga).

In October, OrthoChristian reported on the Baptism of more than 100 people in Uganda.
