His Eminence Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod, the abbot of the Holy Dormition-Kiev Caves Lavra, was discharged from the hospital on August 31, more than two weeks after he was rushed to the hospital for emergency heart surgery.

The Metropolitan suffered a heart attack and was diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction.

His release from the hospital was announced by his lawyer Archpriest Nikita Chekman.

The next day after his release, a court session was held in the state’s case against him, during which the court set a deadline of September 12 for Met. Pavel’s representation to familiarize itself with all the criminal proceedings, after which the case will be sent to court.

The Metropolitan, who continues to be under constant medical supervision, participated by videoconference, reports Fr. Nikita.

Recall that Met. Pavel was held under house arrest for several months, then in a detention center, and then was released on nearly a $1 million bail just before he suffered his heart attack.
