Portugal: First Liturgy for new parish outside of Lisbon

On Sunday, September 17, a newly formed parish outside of Lisbon celebrated its first Divine Liturgy.

The parish of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos currently meets at the Catholic chapel of the same name in Algueirão–Mem Martins, a suburb of Sintra, 20 miles outside the Portuguese capital. This first Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Grace Bishop Peter of Kafa, vicar of the Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe, reports the Diocese of Spain and Portugal of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The hierarch was joined by Archpriest Octavian Pleshka and Deacon Pedro Mota.

After the dismissal, Bp. Peter congratulated the clergy and parishioners with the start of their new parish.
