Kitwe, the second most populous city in Zambia, is home to Chingola Correctional Facility. And in recent years, the Church of St. Nektarios from near the city of Chingola has been making important donations of food and cleaning materials, reports the Metropolis of Zambia of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.

The donations are made with the cooperation of the prison management, the metropolis notes.

“Correctional institutions are a particularly sensitive community of disappointed and desperate people, with many problems and difficulties, who seek support and hope. It is a fruitful space for the dissemination of the Gospel, for philanthropic action, and for the application of the Scriptural saying: I was in prison, and ye came unto Me,” the metropolis concludes.
