Thanks to the efforts of the Pro-life Department of the Archdiocese of Iași of the Romanian Orthodox Church, a large family with many children will soon have a new house.

Andrea and Andrei Rica have 9 children who they are raising “in harmony and faith,” writes Doxologia.ro.

The youngest child, Dimitrie, is 3 months old, and the eldest, Elena, is in college. The mother, a teacher by profession, is now a housewife, taking care of her many children. The father works at a local plant for minimum wage.

Previously, the family lived in an old house with only two rooms. Later, with the help of their parish priest, they began to build a new house, but only a small section of the house was completed before funds ran out. The family now lives in three rooms on the ground floor, with no bathroom or equipped kitchen.

Work is currently being done on the design of the rest of the house, and construction is expected to start soon.

The Archdiocese has started a fundraiser to finish the house and to purchase an appropriate car for the family. The current need is $86,540 (398,162 lei).

Donations can be made online by credit or debit card at the site Gift for Children. Choose the option “Construim casa unei familii cu 9 copii” (“We’re building a house for a family with 9 children”).
